The First Guard

The First Guard is an elite force of warriors, wizards and scouts solely dedicated to uncovering and quelling threats to the safety of Absalom, housed at Azlanti Keep with the city watch.The First Guard mans the keep and serves as the core of the city's army, commanding other forces in times of war. The commission to command the First Guard is for life, and the force's vow is to protect the city, not the Grand Council.The First Guard is always at less than 20% capacity unless there is an active siege.

The force's current leader is Rothos of House Vastille, Captain of the First Guard and Commander Militant of Absalom. He is assisted by Chun Fe Seung, First Siege Gear, and Utgar of Gyr, Third Spell Lord. Lord Yuvin Vatir of House Damaq is Quartermaster and Silver Sword.

Former captain Wynsal Starborn has retired from the leadership of the force, but holds the District Seat on the Grand Council.

Please Note:

1: Recuits and footman swear an oath of duty that is binding for life and prohibits marriage, family, and land ownership. Desertion is a crime punishable by death.
2: During times of peace Recuits and footman who are amung the 20% active must stay in the Azlanti Keep. Till their time of duty is up. Then they are free to visit family or do personnel stuff.
3: Those that are not serving at Azlanti Keep, also help patroll the many districts and can take command of any district guards if the need arises. They have alot more power then most guards, specialy when the need for uncovering and quelling threats to the safety of Absalom. (The Only other group who has almost the same power as The First Guards do, to help districts is the city watch, but they are commanded by the Grand Council.)
4: Criminals avoiding corporal punishment (Unless the sentaince is death) can have their time spent in the First, but are lower rank then recuits. Plus they are always amung the 20% active. When given free time it is about an hour or two time no more. If not back by their time they are concided Desertion (a crime punishable by death)
5: After a full year term of service you can stay or leave the First guard. If you stay retirement is allowed after 10 years of full service.
6: Rank of Captain or higher are allowed to marry and have land for their family. This is a show of respect for their time of service as they still protect the city.
