| Subject: INCOME RULES!! (Because we all like some money for our toons) Thu May 16, 2013 11:34 pm | |
| Income Rules Profession (Trained Only)You are skilled at a specific job. Like Craft and Perform, Profession is actually a number of separate skills. You could have several Profession skills, each with its own ranks. While a Craft skill represents ability in creating an item, a Profession skill represents an aptitude in a vocation requiring a broader range of less specific knowledge. The most common Profession skills are architect, baker, barrister, brewer, butcher, clerk, cook, courtesan, driver, engineer, farmer, fisherman, gambler, gardener, herbalist, innkeeper, librarian, merchant, midwife, miller, miner, porter, sailor, scribe, shepherd, stable master, soldier, tanner, trapper, and woodcutter.
Check
You can earn half your Profession check result in gold pieces per week of dedicated work. ( Skill Rank for a lvl 4 character 7 + Wis 16 (+3 mod) + a random 1d20 roll 6 = 16 total so you earn 8gp for that week )
Action
Not applicable. A single check generally represents a week of work.
Try Again
Varies. An attempt to use a Profession skill to earn income cannot be retried. You are stuck with whatever weekly wage your check result brought you. Another check may be made after a week to determine a new income for the next period of time. An attempt to accomplish some specific task can usually be retried.
Untrained
Untrained laborers and assistants (that is, characters without any ranks in Profession) earn an average of 1 silver piece per day. (Note: 7sp a week) DM Note: This is if only if you are hired at a business or by another character.
Special
Some races may offer a bonus to crafting or profession skillPerform (Cha)You are skilled at one form of entertainment, from singing to acting to playing an instrument. Like Craft and Profession, Perform is actually a number of separate skills. You could have several Perform skills, each with its own ranks.
Check
You can impress audiences with your talent and skill in your chosen performance type.
A masterwork musical instrument gives you a +2 circumstance bonus on all Perform checks that involve its use. ( Skill Rank for a lvl 4 character 7 + Cha 20 (+5 mod) + a random 1d20 roll 20 + 2 Masterwork instrument = 34 total so you earn 17gp for the first day x 7 = 119gp for the whole week. )
Action
Trying to earn money by playing in public requires anywhere from an evening's work to a full day's performance. (Note: times the roll made for the start of the week by seven. That will be your full income for the whole week.)
Try Again
No. Retries aren't allowed for income checks.
Special
If a bard is working with other bards, they can add each other's rolled resuits to earn a income to be split between them.Craft (Int)You are skilled in the creation of a specific group of items, such as armor or weapons. Like Knowledge, Perform, and Profession, Craft is actually a number of separate skills. You could have several Craft skills, each with its own ranks. The most common Craft skills are alchemy, armor, baskets, books, bows, calligraphy, carpentry, cloth, clothing, glass, jewelry, leather, locks, paintings, pottery, sculptures, ships, shoes, stonemasonry, traps, and weapons.
Check
You can practice your trade and make a decent living, earning half your check result in gold pieces per week of dedicated work. (DM Note: Untrained laborers and assistants earn an average of 1 silver piece per day. Is for npc only or followers if yu have the leadership feat.) - ( Skill Rank for a lvl 4 character 7 + Int 12 (+1 mod) + a random 1d20 roll 10 + 2 masterwork tools = 20 total so you earn 10gp for that week )
Action
Does not apply.
Try Again
No when just making a income checkKnowledge (Int; Trained Only)You are educated in a field of study and can answer both simple and complex questions. Like the Craft, Perform, and Profession skills, Knowledge actually encompasses a number of different specialties.
Check
You make your check like normal divide the results by half and add to your profession (if you have it) for income checks.
Many of the Knowledge skills have specific uses as noted on Table: Knowledge Skill DC's.
Action
Usually none. In most cases, a Knowledge check doesn't take an action (but see “Untrained,” below).
Try Again
No. The check represents what you know, and thinking about a topic a second time doesn’t let you know something that you never learned in the first place.
Untrained
You cannot make an untrained Knowledge check with a DC higher than 10. If you have access to an extensive library that covers a specific skill, this limit is removed. The time to make checks using a library, however, increases to 1d4 hours. Particularly complete libraries might even grant a bonus on Knowledge checks in the fields that they cover. (DM Note: This will only be used if a character is training for a profession where he/she works as a appentance at a library)

| Subject: DM Notes (Please Read) Thu May 16, 2013 11:46 pm | |
| DM Note: Now most will have crafting, profession, performing and knowledge and depending on your job. But the profession skill will be set as the main skill if a characters has it. The others will be cut in half on your check added to the main income making skill to help as a bonus.
Now knowledge skill will only help with some jobs not all.
Now if you have none of these skills. You can get work as a unskilled laborer at 1sp a week a total of 7sp a week for pay.
